What’s in the kitchen?

Our cook has experience as a sous chef and creates nutritional and creative dishes for our children on a daily basis. At KCC, we serve breakfast, lunch and an afternoon snack. Most dishes are prepared from scratch like your grandmother used to make. Homemade soups, roast beef and mashed potatoes, or chicken and rice are frequent lunch items. We also work to incorporate new or different foods into our menus, such as fresh fruits and vegetables, roll-ups instead of sandwiches, and occasional vegetarian meals. The menus are posted in the Parent Place section for you to review.

We follow and exceed the USDA regulations for healthful eating and soon will be a part of the federally funded Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP). This program is designed to assist facilities such as ours in continuing to meet the basic nutrition requirements of children birth through 12 by providing reimbursements to the center, resources and training.

To encourage healthy eating, our staff sit at the tables during meal times, and eat with the children. Children are encouraged to try all foods that are served, but are not forced to eat. Seconds are available for children requesting more, and children are assisted in determining how much they will eat, and only to take what they will eat. Milk is served at breakfast and lunch, and milk, juice or water at snack time. Water is available at all meals.

KCC is a peanut free facility.
